‘At your Service’ ABB
ABB(Asea Brown Boveri) is a world leader in power equipment and automation technologies that enable utility and industrial customers to improve efficiency while lowering overall environmental impact. ABB’s manufacturing facility in Vadodara supplies domestic and overseas markets with a variety of power and automation equipment.Demag has supplied and installed cranes in ABB’s Vadodara facility for handling of transformers. Keeping in view the safety aspects and the specifications of the crane (span of 36 mts and hook path of 32 mts), the installation and commissioning was challenging. For Demag Baroda, it was the first of its kind I & C job. The Service team completed the mechanical erection of crane in just six hours, maintaining all safety norms mandated by the client. Demag teams’ efforts were appreciated and recognized by all, especially the safety department of ABB.

Revamping Boundaries with Siemens
The Siemens Group in India is a leader in providing cutting edge technological solutions to a large number of customers in the infrastructure vertical. Siemens recently faced a bottleneck in its process due to malfunctioning of a 35/5 ton EOT crane in their Baroda factory. The crane was provided by one of our competitors in 1994 but the maintenance and services provided were not to the level of client’s expectations. After studying the situation and understanding the importance of its client’s business process, Demag India recommended modernizing this crane. The task of upgrading and modernizing a 35/5T EOT crane was very challenging especially with no technical documentation available relevant to the original supply. The hurdle was successfully overcome by our highly skilled engineering and manufacturing team.
Key changes made in the crane were extension of span and replacement & overhauling of the complete lifting and travel drive components.
The project adds on the accomplishments made by DCC India’s Refurbishment team. From Pokarna Granites to Bhilai Steel plant to Siemens, the modernization projects involved both Demag made and non-Demag made cranes. The journey to transform ‘non-demag’ cranes to “Made as Demag” cranes is pacing up.
