The power sector is one of the largest growing sectors in India, with expected investments of more than 100 billion dollars
in the next 10 years. The Power industry is one of the focus industry segments for Demag. In order to offer suitable solutions
for their highly complex processes, it is very important to understand various aspects of the process flow in the power industry.
The Council for power utilities and the India core - a pioneer organization dedicated to facilitating the development of Indian infrastructure & core sectors through efficient flow of knowledge and information, organized the fourth Thermal Power India Conference in January, 2010 focusing on the issues in the power generation industry covering coal, gas, oil & nuclear power generation. Demag participated in this event which offered a unique platform to learn, discuss and exchange experiences with various stakeholders about the major structural, technical, managerial & regulatory changes and business opportunities in the power generation segment.

Ahmedabad, Feb 5-7, 2010
IFEX and Cast India expo – an exhibition focusing on the foundry, casting and the allied industries was organized in
February 2010. Demag explored it as an opportunity to penetrate in these segments with force and spread awareness about
its products designed to meet the needs of these industries. It was the first time that we advanced our reach in this
segment of industries. As an experiment worth conducting, it provided us with a great opportunity to understand the
scope in foundry industry.
We received some immediate enquiries maily for Chain Hoist and our KBK system. This initiative was taken a step ahead by exploring similar opportunities in regions like Kolhapur and Coimbatore. We would like to congratulate our product management team, Ahemdabad regional team and the Gujarat dealers’ team.
Reaching to the customers in Kolhapur

Soon after the IFEX and understanding the provisions in the Foundry Industry, Demag’s western regional team
undertook the responsibility to identify important industrial clusters where awareness about Demag, its products
and accomplishments were in reduced amounts. One such important industrial cluster was Kolhapur. It was decided
to conduct a customer seminar in Kolhapur to make industries aware about the company and its capabilities. The
seminar sponsored by Demag, was organized with the help of our dealer Vedant Equipment Sales and Services and
The Institute of Indian Foundrymen, Kolhapur.
The attendees and invitees were members of IIFA owners of foundries and people from maintenance department of the foundries. The primary focus was to make them aware of the products we provide specific to the foundry industry. Foundry Industry mainly operates in 2 shope – the foundry shop and the machine shop. Demag provides a specially designed Chain Hoist in foundry shop for sand mould handling. Demag’s KBK sytem are used in the machine shops.
Before the seminar, 20-30% of the market was in Demag’s reach. However, after the seminar, the penetration has risen to 70%. The response was very encouraging and immediate orders worth 10-15 lakhs were received from the foundry industry only. We are now planning to organize seminars in various other tier – II markets.

April 9-11, Coimbatore
Southern Vistas – Demag at Techno4.
An annual industrial exhibition at Coimbatore, Techno4, focused on 4 major industries – Pumps & ancillaries,
Motors & Rotating machines, Foundry and Light engineering. For KBK systems and Chain Hoists this was an ideal
opportunity to showcase Demag’s ability to provide suitable solutions to prospective customers in each of these
industrial clusters. The visitors were not only from Coimbatore but from adjoining industrial regions as well.
To our pleasant surprise, the Minister of Small Scale Industries who visited the exhibition spent a fair amount
of time at our stall discussing the benefits of our KBK Systems. He warmly thanked us for our participation.
We generated a lot of interest from the pumps and foundry segments for KBK systems and Chain hoists, which will
shortly translate to long term business relationships.
