Restricted communication due to "external" transmitters

Due to the drastic increase in radio transmitters, other transmitters such as radio telephones, data modems or wireless alarm systems may transmit in the frequency ranges preferably used by radio controls for machinery and cranes in Europe. These "external" transmitters may restrict communication between a hand-held transmitter / joystick transmitter and the associated receiver (crane). It then might not be possible to utilise the full range of the radio system. Therefore, the operator must either change the frequency by hand or move closer to the crane to ensure uninterrupted radio traffic.

Automatic frequency management

Radio control systems with automatic frequency management check the transmission quality of the given frequency and automatically switch to an alternative frequency, if required. This means that it is not necessary to change the frequency by hand, the operator can concentrate fully on the crane and the load. An adaptive frequency management system also registers which frequencies are in constant use by other systems and avoids them.
